About us
The years spent in Primary School are amongst the most important in every childs education and are as much the responsibility of the parents as they are of the teachers. We realise the important decision you are making in choosing the right school for your child. This booklet has been especially written to help you understand what this school has to offer and help in your decision.
The aims of the school are:
- To help the child grow in accordance with the ideals of the Catholic Faith.
- To encourage children to be enthusiastic and eager to put their best into all activities.
- To ensure that children will be able to read, write and talk clearly and expressively and acquire an understanding of basic mathematical skills.
- To help children acquire an understanding of the world in which we live, together with an appreciation of human achievements.
- To enable each child to communicate his/her feelings through all various art forms.
- To enable each child to develop and acquire physical skills.
We aim to provide a happy, caring, secure and stimulating environment in which all the children will feel confident about themselves and the world about them and to grow in faith and understanding. We provide opportunities for parental involvement in the life of the school to encourage a real collaboration and co-operation between the Parish, Governors, teachers, parents and children.
Our School is a voluntary aided Roman Catholic School belonging to the Diocese of Westminster, which, through the Diocesan Education Commission, is responsible for the appointment of the Foundation Governors.
The School Governors are responsible for the appointment of the staff and the admission of pupils. The school is now responsible under the Government's scheme for the Local Management of Schools, for the expenditure of its own budget on staff costs, supplies, maintenance and repairs. The budget is calculated by the Local Education Authority using a formula which has been approved by the Governors.
The school was opened as a one form entry Junior Mixed and Infants' School in January 1967, but was re-organised in September 1972 as a two form entry Junior Mixed School with pupils aged seven to eleven. The pupils are arranged in eight classes of mixed ability according to age.
