Visit from Bishop John Sherrington - 30th January 2020
3F were very excited today to greet a special visitor to our classroom - Bishop John Sherrington. The children had prepared some questions for Bishop John to find out more about his Christian life journey and how prayer has influenced his life. The children were very inspired by the answers he gave and really enjoyed having him with us.
PE - Gymnastics
3F completed some fantastic work in a PE lesson in Gymnastics. They explored different ways of travelling around the room and particularly aimed to use different levels when travelling. Then, we discussed balance and had a competition for who could balance the longest! The children then got into pairs to explore different types of balance using either points (small body parts to balance on) or patches (large body parts to balance on). Well done!
Anti-Bullying Week 11th-15th November
3F have worked very hard exploring Anti-Bullying week! They had lots of discussions in class about how we can prevent and react to bullying in our school and created fantastic posters displaying everything that they had learnt. They also participated brilliantly in a drama workshop where they explored what a bystander was and how to act if they see anything in the playground that they are not comfortable with. Please see below for pictures of the children hard at work!
Trip to the Welsh Harp Environmental Centre
3F had a great day at the Welsh Harp Environmental Centre on Tuesday 15th October. The children went as part of their Science topic on Rocks and also had the chance to look at different soils. They had the opportunity to show off their knowledge on different types of rocks, create their own volcanoes, explore fossils within rocks and complete an experiment on the permeability of different types of soil. All of the children participated really well and behaved fantastically! Well done!
We are Astronauts!
'We are Astronauts!' in 3D as part of our final Science topic for the year. In today's lesson, we worked together to try and create a rocket with only a balloon, a piece of string, a straw and some sellotape. After watching some videos of rockets launching, we realised that we could create something similar on a much smaller scale where energy is released and causes movement! See the video below for the final product!
10th June - 14th June
During the school's Science week, the children really enjoyed taking part in a Science workshop. During the workshop, they had the opportunity to make their own sherbert and their own slime! All of the children had a great time! See below for pictures of the workshop.
Walk to School Week
20th - 24th May
Well done to the children in 3D who have been making an effort to walk to school every day this week! On Wednesday, the children were able to wear their own socks if they walked to school and we saw some very colourful socks in our classroom!
World Book Day
In 3D we had a fantastic time celebrating World Book Day. All of the children came into school dressed as one of their favourite book characters. We also spent the day trying to design our own book covers, book vouchers and sharing a new class reader "The Giggler Treatment".
Please see below for some pictures from the day.
Circus Skills Week
4th March 2019 - 8th March 2019
The children had a great time this Monday during their first Circus Skills session! During this time they looked at balancing feathers, juggling scarves, juggling balls, ball cups, plate spinning and diablo. They also had the opportunity to try lots of other types of Circus equipment in preparation for the Big Top performance on Friday! See below for pictures of the class showing all of their skills.
All of the children have had a session of Godly Play this week in Horizon House on the theme of Adoremus. Godly Play is a very different, but amazingly engaging, creative and imaginative method for exploring our Christian faith and heritage. The children have the opportunity to participate in Godly Play sessions with their teacher at the end of each term. During their session this week, the children discussed the importance of the Bread and Wine and why we celebrate communion every week at mass. The children thoroughly enjoy their Godly Play sessions and always provide very meaningful answers during discussion.
Judaism Week 2018
The children have really enjoyed learning about Judaism this week and particularly enjoyed the workshop they took part in on Friday. Please see below for pictures of this exciting workshop where the children learnt about Shabbat. Well done to all of the children who behaved beautifully and respectfully.
